Delhi govt allows home delivery of liquor through websites, app | Hindustan Times
Delhi reported 648 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Delhi government on Tuesday permitted home delivery of Indian liquor and foreign liquor by ordering through a mobile app or online web portal, reported news agency ANI.

The Delhi government has finally permitted home delivery of liquor and orders for that can be placed through mobile apps and websites. Under the amended excise rules, those who hold the L-13 license are allowed to deliver both Indian and foreign liquor to homes for orders received via the app or online.

The Delhi government has implemented a revised policy regarding the delivery of liquor. According to the Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2021, now L-13 license holders will be allowed to deliver liquor to people's homes.

Last year, states including Kolkata, Maharashtra, Odisha, Siliguri, and West Bengal allowed online delivery of liquor through platforms such as Amazon, BigBasket, Swiggy, and Zomato.

Excise officials explained the new rule does not empower every liquor retailer to deliver alcohol at the consumer’s doorsteps. “Only a particular kind of license holder will be allowed to home deliver liquor. In Delhi, we have now allowed home delivery of liquor only to L-13 license holders,” said an official, who did not want to be named.
